EULAR - a partner in Europe and beyond
Over the years, EULAR has strengthened its image as the representative umbrella organisation in Europe in the field of rheumatic diseases that unites scientists/clinicians and patients and thus stands for a comprehensive representation of research and patient needs in Europe. EULAR is able to offer a representative and reliable view both when scientific expertise is needed and on all aspects related to the needs of the people living with a rheumatic disease and the medical professionals treating them. EULAR's unique structure as a platform of the entire rheumatic and muscoskeletal disease community has made it a privileged partner of policy makers in Europe.
While the heartland of EULAR's activities remains Europe, EULAR is extending its interests, collaboration and programmes far beyond. In order to promote European rheumatology and improve the management of musculoskeletal conditions, EULAR actively supports a variety of international initiatives in collaboration with the WHO International and Regional Office for Europe, the Bone and Joint Decade and the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF). Not least, EULAR cooperates closely with the American College of Rheumatology and the Regional Leagues of Asia-Pacific, Central and South America, and Africa as well as other medical associations such as the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) and the Federation of European Scleroderma Associations (FESCA). Such partnerships help increasing the knowledge of the organisations involved and the impact they can have on the political stage.
